MEET ROBERT HUNTER
My law practice is focused on civil matters, serving local clients in addition to institutional clients with a national and an international consumer base. Much of this work concerns collections. Collections are a large portion of the district court calendar. I am also well-grounded in other civil areas, such as business, construction and insurance disputes. This more than prepares me for the court's small claims docket.
As for criminal matters, I served as a deputy prosecutor for the East Wenatchee Municipal Court when I came to town in 1998. Since then I have continued to represent clients with their infractions or misdemeanors as the occasion arises. This experience along with my knowledge of the law pertaining to vehicular accidents has given me a strong understanding of the rules of the road. The district court requires such knowledge.
My Personal Story
I am a 61 year old Christian who attends Eastmont Baptist Church, plays on a senior softball team, and studies the law for a living. I have four kids: two in their twenties and two who are six and four. My wife and I have been married for 14 years and enjoy skiing.
In growing up on the north end of Detroit as a foster child, I learned to overcome adversity. HUD tore my neighborhood down when I was 14, shortly after my foster mother passed away. My foster father lived until my junior year in college. My foster parents who were without high school degrees, left a strong influence over me to continue my education.
After graduating from Wayne State University in 1981, UCLA accepted me into its nationally acclaimed UCLA paralegal program. In 1995, I was admitted into the University of Minnesota Law School that was rated the 16th best law school by U.S. News & World Report. There I was awarded a scholarship that paid virtually all of my tuition.
In 1998-99 I served as an East Wenatchee deputy prosecutor. In 1999-2003 I defended people involved in vehicular accidents. Afterwards, I built a law practice focused on debtor-creditor law.
